About the program
The Deatrich Wise Block Party is the foundation’s flagship community celebration — a free, full-day festival of music, food, games, and resources that brings thousands of neighbors together.
In Mattapan, Massachusetts, neighbors come together for live music, youth activities and community resources. Published coverage highlights a free farmers market, a pop-up barbershop for children and opportunities to connect through sport.
Behind the fun is the point: uniting communities. Schools, churches, local businesses, and city services share the same space as the families they serve, and connections made at the block party carry into the rest of the year.
